More than 40 runners from Sooke took part in Sunday’s GoodLife Victoria Marathon races.
Six locals finished the 42.2-kilometre marathon course including: Reg Hillock, 3:31:56; Maki Pfeiffer, 3:54:07; Terry Slater, 4:09:16; Claude Laforce, 4:35:24; Brent Cournoyer, 4:35:32 and
Sandra Fawcett, 5:30:50.
Two Sookies placed in the top three in their age division in the half-marathon (21.1-kilometres). Donna Ferguson was second in the Female 65-69 age group with a time of 1:51:38 and Robert Butterworth, 2:08:07 in M75-79.
Other top Sooke finishers in the half-marathon included Victoria Van Ek, 1:46:08; Jacklyn Evans, 1:49:19; Robyn Van Ek, 1:50:07 and Tanner Logan.
On the *K Road Race side, top Sookies were Jason Seysener, 34:22; Tor Rabien, 35:52; Anton Rabien, 35:53; Tracy Forberg, 35:57 and Brayden Heal, 40:56.
The overall marathon was won by Daniel Kipkoech of Lethbridge, with an official time of 2:20.03
Abel Kirui won the men’s race, with an official time of 02:11:23. Sabrina Wilkie won the women’s race with an official time of 2:45:54.
