The Earl Marriott Mariners senior boys volleyball team is still in contention for a provincial triple-A title, as quarter-finals of BC High School Volleyball Championships hit the court today at the Langley Events Centre.
After going undefeated in pool play with wins over Van Tech, Claremont and Moscrop, the No. 1-ranked Mariners defeated Burnaby South 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-4) Thursday in the first round of playoffs to advance.
Today (Friday) at 9 a.m., Marriott will hit the court against No. 8 Mount Boucherie, with the winner advancing to semifinals later this evening. Other quarter-finals are Claremont against Argyle, Van Tech versus Mount Baker and Moscrop against Oak Bay.
Both semifinal matches are set for 7:30 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre.
The finals are set for 6 p.m. Saturday at the LEC’s centre court.

Meanwhile, at quad-A senior girls provincial championships in Penticton, Earl Marriott’s senior girls team is second in its pool, with wins over Handsworth and South Delta. The team’s lone loss came to Kelowna Thursday.
Playoff rounds in quad-A continue today and through Saturday, with final set for Saturday evening.
In Powell River, at senior girls triple-A provincial championships, Elgin Park finished first its in pool, and was set to hit the court Friday afternoon against Robert Bateman Secondary in playoff action.
The gold medal game is set for 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
