Sovereign Lake skiers podium

Seven skiers were in Canmore for the week-long NorAm Race

Sovereign Lake’s snow-covered pine passes have cultivated a generation of top skiers.

The Sovereign Lake Cross Country Ski Team sent seven skiers to Canmore to compete in the week-long NorAm Race.

“Paige Latta had an excellent top-10 finish in the Sprint Qualifier. Taschi Klaschka and Ian Oliphant placed first and second respectively in the Junior Boys Skate Race. Clara Hardy placed second in the Skate Race and third in the Classic event with teammate Madison Land earning a second place finish in the Classic Race,” said Michele Andrews with the team.

Lucas Sadesky and teammate Torin Andrews also earned two podium finishes each. Sadesky placed third in the Skate Race and Second in the Classic to Torin’s first and third.

Next up for the skiers is the Canada Games qualifiers Dec. 29 and 30 in Prince George.
