A pair of Spallumcheen golfers earned top-10 placings at the rain-shortened Future Links Pacific Championships at Arbutus Ridge Golf Course in Cobble Hill.
Conner Kozak, a Seaton secondary student, carded rounds of 76 and 68 – the second-lowest round of day two – to finish in ninth place at 4-over-par 144.
Brad Jones, a Vernon Christian student, finished at 6-over with rounds of 72 and 74 to earn a share of 10th place.
Kozak played in same group with eventual champion Wilson Bateman of Spruce Grove (71-66) and was leading him for most of day two until four holes to go.
Most of the field had trouble with the wet Vancouver Island conditions. The third round was cancelled because the course was deemed too wet and muddy.
The event featured nearly 100 of Canada’s top golfers, including reigning B.C. amateur men’s and world junior champion Adam Svenson of Surrey, who finished 14th.
Kozak will be lead the Seaton squad to the B.C. High School Senior AA Boys Championships, May 29-31, at Radium Hot Springs.
