A Spallumcheen foursome won the Capri Cup Tuesday at the Vernon Golf & Country Club.
Pam Page, Lisa Weir, Patti Kidd and Brenda Howard claimed the annual Capri Cup in a field of 32 teams which played under warm, sunny skies and stellar course conditions. Teams played a best-ball net format.
Runner-up prizes went to Vernon’s Karen Hassard, Karen Kindrachuk, Jane Robertson and Janet Reinbolt.
In third place was the Shuswap Lake Estates team of Gail Orser, Lana German, Karen Longman and Linda Williamson, followed by Vernon’s Jackie Jones, Trudy Walker, Thelma Trickett and Mia Sakakibara.
Joan Sivyer, Debbie Powell, Alexis Percy and Susan Toews of Kelowna finished fourth, while Rosmarie Rachwalski, Pam Rieger, Debbie Fisher and Norma Lemiski of Vernon took fifth.
Theresa Hirschbold, Lynn Webster, Doreen Walton and Trudy Hodge of Vernon placed sixth, while the Predator foursome of Maureen Turner, Gloria Craig, Monica Jarvis and Doreen Butterworth was seventh.
Maria Smith, Denise MacDonald, Wendy Berger and Maria Thomas of Vernon took 10th, while Suzanne Hocevar, Bobbie Cook, Cheryl Schmidt and Sharon Noble of Vernon were 12th.
Closest-to-the-pin winners were Maria Pires (Osoyoos), Hassard, Lora Lea Harrison (Wolf Creek) and Fisher. A total of 13 ladies recorded deuces.
Aces wild at Hillview
Aces were flying at Hillview Golf Course Wednesday.
Don Crabbe, playing with the men’s club, teed off at 2:30 p.m. for 18 holes. He was having a good round, shooting 1-over on the front nine before holing the 15th hole which was playing about 140 yards. Crabbe shot even par.
“The bonus is the men’s club (group that plays Wednesdays and Saturdays) will throw a little money in the kitty every time they play for a hole in one pot,” said Hillview pro Keith Vandenbrink.
“Most years, the pot gets donated to local charities at the end of the year when no one claims the prize. This year the donation will be a little smaller because Don will be a little bit richer.”
Jack Wallace then teed off with his daughter for nine holes just after 6 p.m. and aced the 197-yard ninth hole.
“Both players received a complimentary hole in one mug which (owner) Jim Atmore fills up a few times with their beverage of choice.”
