Spartan success at Santa Swim Meet

The Chilliwack Spartans cleaned up at home, winning several medals at mid-December's Santa Swim Meet at the Landing Leisure Centre.

Chilliwack’s Spartan Swim Club hosted the Spartan Santa Swim Meet at the Chilliwack Leisure Landing Centre Dec. 14-15, welcoming 210 out-of-town swimmers.

Thirty Spartans participated.

Calvin Dumont-Belanger excelled in the 10-and-under boys’ division, winning five races. He placed first in the 400 and 800 metre freestyles, 200m backstroke and fly and 400m individual medley.

Eleven-year-old Sean Deacon was just as dominant, winning seven races. Deacon took top spot in the 50, 100, 200 and 800m freestyles, 100 and 200m backstrokes and 200m fly. In the same division, Myles Wheeler finished first in the 400 and 1500m freestyles, 100m breaststroke and 400m IM.

Anton Stoeckly was third in the 200m freestyle and Logan Sparkes was third in the 100m fly.

Wyatt Hine (12-13 year old boys) had five firsts in the 100 and 200m breaststrokes, 100m fly, 200m IM and 800m freestyle. Lucas Santangelo was third in the 800m freestyle and 400m IM.

Kara Wismer (12-13 year old girls) placed second in the 200m backstroke, adding thirds in the 100 and 200m breaststrokes and 100m backstroke.

Jean Leslie won the 100m and 200m backstrokes.

Anna Dumont-Belanger was second in the 200m fly and third in the 400m IM and 800m freestyle.

In the 14-and-over boys division, Carson Loeppky won the 50, 100 and 1500m freestyles, 100 and 200m breaststrokes, 100m fly and 200m IM.

Aidan Braun was first in the 800m freestyle and second in the 200m backstroke.

Kila Hine (14-and-over girls) was third in the 200m fly.

Brooke Kienas was second in the 50m freestyle.

Nadia Strelioff won the 100m breaststroke and 400m IM.

Sydney Torok finished third in the 200, 400 and 800m freestyles.
