There were plenty of goals in Saturday night’s B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League game in Kamloops, but unfortunately for the Langley visitors, they were on the wrong end of a 9-5 score to the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.
The game was played at Kamloops Memorial Arena.
The Spartans got off to great start with Jamie Russell opening the scoring, but the WolfPack responded with four goals in less than eight minutes to take a lead they would not relinquish.
“We had chances that we couldn’t bury and it was a frustrating night,” said TWU coach Barret Kropf.
“We’re struggling to play consistent hockey and we have to find an ability to do so somewhere.
“We have lots to work on.”
Blair Murphy would cut the lead to 4-2 after the opening period, but three goals in the second period for the WolfPack put the game out of reach.
The Spartans lost despite a 3-for-4 showing on the power play.
JP Villeneuve, Micah Cockrill and Chris Hirano had the other TWU goals.
The Spartans (5-10) are on the road this weekend in Victoria for a pair of games against the Vikes.
