Fraser Valley, hoping to bring down the undefeated Fraser River-Delta, came from behind in the fourth quarter to pull out a 21-20 win, narrowly fending off the last second efforts of the unbeaten squad.
Trading points through the first half, with Fraser River-Delta eking out a slim 3 point lead, the pace increased in the second half with neither team surrendering an easy basket.
With Fraser Valley pulling ahead by three points in the waning moments of the game, the intensity increased as Fraser River-Delta cut that lead to one but was unable to regain their advantage, the game ended with the excitement at an all time high.
Scott Stewart, a player for Fraser Valley, said it was a “physical game,” and Fraser River-Delta had good players that made for tough competition.
“We’re feeling good,” he said. “I’m happy and excited.”
The end results will see Fraser River-Delta head in to the gold medal game on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
Fraser Valley will move on and play for the bronze medal match.
