Glory Days registration opens
Now that the first Rupert Runners race of the season is in the books, the next one up is Crest Glory Days on May 13.
The club is now accepting registration for that race, which offers a 5K or 10K race and a 5K walk.
The walk will start at 9:30 a.m. on May 13 and the runs at 10:00 a.m. Both will begin in front of Ashley Home Furniture. Race package pickup will take place at the Crest Hotel the day before the race from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and also on the day of the race.
All participants who register by April 25 will be guaranteed a t-shirt.

Umpire Clinic rescheduled
Prince Rupert Minor Softball’s umpire clinic, originally scheduled for April 9, has been rescheduled for May 7.
The clinic costs $100 but umpires will be reimbursed once they’ve worked three games throughout the season.
Becoming an umpire will be a good way for people to become involved with softball and make some extra money.

Whitecaps evaluations
The Whitecaps FC Northern Academy will be holdings its evaluations in Port Edward this week, with an opportunity for Rupert-area kids to make a select, year-round team to vastly improve their competitive soccer skills.
Evaluations will take place at 374-702 Evergreen Drive in Port Edward.
U9 and U10 players will be evaluated from 5-6:30 p.m., U11-U12 from 6:45-8:15 p.m., U13-U14 from 5-6:30 p.m. and U15+ from 6:45-8:15 p.m.
Approximately 10 players will be selected to each team by the coaches.
The academy recently expanded to the northwest, with Terrace and Kitimat also bringing the program to their communities.
