CHSS volleyball on the road
The junior boys volleyball team at Charles Hays Secondary School continues to roll. The team improved to 10-0 this weekend in a tournament in Hazelton.
The boys beat Bulkley Valley Christian School, Ebenezer Canadian Reformed School, Hazelton Secondary School and Centennial Christian School.
With zones on the weekend in Smithers, the team looks in tip-top shape for a chance at provincials.
The junior girls volleyball team chased down their first win, against Smithers Secondary School. It was their first win of the season. The girls also played Hazelton and Ebenezer Canadian Reformed School, but lost those games.
The team will head to Terrace this weekend for their last chance to sharpen their skills before zones.
Old Timers Tournament
The Carlo Paolinelli Memorial Tournament will take place in Prince Rupert from Nov. 4-6.
From the Prince Rupert Old Timers Hockey League (PROHL), La Gondola and A&G Silverbacks will be participating, along with several other teams from the surrounding area.
Each team will play three games over the course of the weekend. There will also be a social on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Peewee Rep sweeps road trip
The Peewee Rep Seawolves had a very successful away trip this weekend. The team hammered Burns Lake 27-0, followed that up with another shutout of Houston 10-0 and then doubled up Smithers 6-3.
The team is now 4-0 on the season. They play next in Fort St. James on Nov. 19.
Rupert dancers win bursaries
Three Prince Rupert dancers have won bursaries for their skills.
Piper Clouthier, Reagan Pomponio and Emilie Strand, all of Dance Academy of Prince Rupert, each were awarded $350 bursaries from the Canadian Dance Teachers Association this week.
