Qualicum Beach ladies rock bonspiel
Lynne Noble guided her hometown rink to the A Event title Sunday to wrap up the Swingin’ 60’s women’s curling bonspiel at the Qualicum and District Curling Club.
Noble was joined by third Lorraine Jeffries, second Glynis Davis and lead Elly Moore.
The three-day tournament drew 16 teams from Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Comox, Nanaimo and Port Alberni. The Saturday evening banquet/party boasted an “Oceanside Hawaiian” theme, which spawned a wide range of costume ideas.
“And the toilet paper/plunger races were hilarious to watch,” bonspiel co-ordinator Barbara Birt said. “A wonderful time was had by all.”
The host curling club also won the C Event, with skip Irene Creally joined by Kathryn Miller, Sandra Braithwaite and Susan White.
The B title went to the Comox rink of Amber Dufour, Mary Holden, Kathy Meunier and Mary Reimer. The D final was claimed by Nanaimo’s Shirley Sloan, Karen Hungar, Sharon Wright and Barb Dysart.
Next up on the Qualicum and District Curling Club schedule is the Junior Bonspiel, Dec. 3.
