University basketball
Pen High is hosting university girls basketball on Sept. 28. At 5 p.m., the UBC Thunderbirds play against the UBC-O Heat. The game features third-year player Emily Kanester of Vernon, Julia Reichert, a first-year from Princeton and Olivia Johnson, also a first-year from Kelowna. Admission is free.
Penticton Ladies golf
Kathy Hofmann scored 56 to win the Penticton Golf and Country Club Sweet Sixteen event. In second was Lynn Popoff with 57 and Lois Moore, 58. The Norma Partington winner was Elaine Vonck at 121, while runner ups were Jean Coombs and Lorna Wyslouzil at 126.
