Penticton Men’s Rec Hockey
Victories in their last three games has helped improve the Bar one Argo Bisons to a perfect 19-0 record in Penticton Men’s Rec League action.
The first came against the Peacock’s Perch Wolverines 11-6, with Brent Mosses scoring four goals, and Kyle Fraser and Kiel Gatenby both scoring two goals each and Dan Fraser, Sam Gill and Erin McFadden scoring one goal each. As for the Wolverines, their own Jamie Britton and Ryan McMurchy also both scoring two goals each, with Andy McGinn and Jeff Peterson scoring one goal each and in another game The Bisons defeated the Ice Dogs 9-7, with Dan Fraser scoring three goals and Kyle Fraser with two and Ben Boudreau, Jeremy Van Troyen and Erin McFadden all scoring one goal each, for the Ice Dogs, Mike Funk scored, Darren Belanger scored three goals and Gord Henderson scored one goal, and in their last game with the Best Damn Wings they won 11-7, with Ben Boudreau scoring four goals and Sam Gill and Jeremy Van Troyen scoring two goals each. As for the Wings, Tim Card, Brendan Miller and PJ Forbe all scored two goals each with Jesse Morrison scoring one goal, but it’s not all bad news for the Wings as they won their game against the Hitmen 6-4, with Brendan Miller scoring three goals, and Tim Card with two, while the Hitmen lost. Mark Petry scored a hat trick, while Mike Bezugley scored one. The Mule Broncos shutout the Wolverines 2-0 with Jamie Johnson and Andrew Pond both scores one goal each. In the standings, the Ice Dogs and Broncos are 21 points behind the Bisons, while the Hitmen are fourth with 15 points. They are followed by the Wolverines and Wings.
B.C. Freestyle event at Apex
Apex Mountain will be hosting the first B.C. Freestyle Series competition beginning today until Jan. 15. This is one of two qualifying events for the Canadian junior nationals. Over 100 competitors aged eight and up are competing from the Apex Freestyle Club, Whistler/Blackcomb Freestyle Club, Silver Star Freestyle Club, Big White Freestyle Club, Revelstoke Freestyle Club, Vancouver Freestyle Club, Mount Washington Freestyle Club, Kimberly Freestyle Club and the BC Provincial Freestyle Team.
This weekend marks the final weekend to perfect the athlete’s tricks and technique. All the action begins at 10 a.m.
