Seamen struggle in preseason match, Men’s Day Opening Scramble approaches, Music Festival Upcoming

Seamen struggle in preseason match

The Prince Rupert Seamen has been working hard to rejoin the northern division of the rugby league and played a well-contested battle with the Terrace Northmen on Saturday, although the team didn’t get the result they hoped. The final score was 59-24 for Terrace.

“We had our chances. The score could have easily been closer if we would have converted our opportunities. Plus, our tackling was atrocious,” coach Andy Enns commented.

The Seamen were short in numbers and only had on substitute player due to many players not having the day off.

“Fortunately this was just an exhibition game. This gives us an excellent example for teaching and coaching. They key is to use this experience to our advantage,” Enns said.

The team is always looking for new players. Practices are at Charles Hays Secondary School field on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5 p.m. and on Sundays at 3 p.m. Mouthguards and soccer boots are required.
