Two representatives from the University of the Fraser Valley golf program will be part of Team Canada at the 2014 World University Championships.
Cascades coach Chris Bertram will lead the Canadian women’s team along with Carla Munch from the University of Waterloo, while Aaron Pauls, who helped the UFV men’s team win the Canadian college title last fall and earned tournament all-star honours, will be part of the men’s team.
The world tourney runs June 23-27 in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
LUYKEN EARNS ALL-STAR NOD
Aieisha Luyken of the University of the Fraser Valley women’s basketball team has been named a Canada West second team all-star for the second consecutive year.
The fifth-year point guard out of Mission Secondary averaged 10.7 points per game and notched a team-high 90 assists in 2013-14.
CLUB BASKETBALL TRYOUTS
Abbotsford Basketball Club is holding tryouts for club teams in four age groups on Saturday, March 8 at Columbia Bible College.
ABC is offering a Grade 4-5 boys team, Grade 6 teams for boys and girls, and a Grade 7-8 boys team.

MIDGET HAWKS WIN PRESIDENTS CUP
The Abbotsford Hawks midget A2 boys rep hockey team went undefeated to win their Presidents Cup round-robin playoff series.
The Hawks went 4-0-1 against the Vancouver Thunderbirds, North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Cloverdale and Port Moody, finishing their run to the title with a 5-3 win over Port Moody behind goals from Braden Laverty (2), Jayden Schubert, Haydn Downing and Jayden Hazenberg.
