The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) announced Thursday that the league will be adding a female division for the 2015-16 season.
It will be the sixth division within the CSSHL, along with the existing Prep, Varsity, Elite 15, Bantam Prep and Bantam Varsity Division.
“We are pleased to be adding a Female Division to the league,” said CSSHL Chairman Andy Oakes in a release. “Over time, we expect the female division to grow and prosper much like the male side, where we started with just two divisions and eight teams and have grown to five divisions and 33 teams.”
The CSSHL will be looking at existing members to make up the division with full details and structure to be established at the AGM in June. The CSSHL also announced today that the league will be moving forward with a search to find a commissioner in time for the 2015-16 season.
The newly formed position will be responsible for taking on the role of leadership and helping the growth of the CSSHL, not only in Western Canada, but also further east in hopes of connecting sport school programs across the country. The role will also be responsible in dealing with corporate partners and sponsorships within the CSSHL.
The CSSHL will conduct the search for the position between the conclusion of the 2015-16 season in March and the CSSHL AGM in June.
The CSSHL was founded in 2009 with five sports schools and was specifically designed to enable like-minded players an increased level of competition and exposure. Today, the CSSHL currently has 33 teams from 11 different Sport Schools spread across five
