The Terrace River Kings claimed the first of the final playoff series against Williams Lake last Saturday. The River Kings were up 3-0 in the first period, and held their lead in an eventful second period ending 5-3 for the River Kings. The Stampeders scored early in the third to narrow the gap 5-4, and fired in a final shot in the last two minutes to tie up the game 5-5 and send it into overtime. Ben Reinbolt scored the game winner, and a hat trick, at seven minutes to take the win. The final game(s) of the series against Williams Lake is at the Terrace Sportsplex this Saturday at 7 p.m. and, if needed, Sunday at 2 p.m.

Basketball
Teams are contesting in the All Native Basketball Tournament in Prince Rupert this week, with finals on Saturday. Stay tuned for more in next week’s paper.
