Curling to the top

The Salmon Arm Secondary Senior High School Curling Team claimed a medal over the weekend. At the provincial curling championships in Richmond, the team curled several tight games to eventually take part in a tie-breaker for the silver medal – which they lost by just one rock to bring home the bronze.  The team had a full schedule, curling three games Thursday, three games Friday – one of which went to an extra end, and two Saturday. Taking gold was South Peace from Dawson Creek and the silver went to JL Crowe from Trail. Winning team members from Salmon Arm were skip Travis Siemens, third Brandon Boyd, second Jenean Siemens and lead Jordan Baart.

Tour Fly Hills

The Snow Blazers snowmobile club will be doing a tour of the Fly Hills on Sunday.

At 11 a.m., club members will be leaving the parking lot. The road up to the parking lot is down to gravel and the parking lot has a good layer of snow for downloading. The last few days there has been fresh snow on the mountain so the riding should be great. The main trails are in good shape and will be groomed. Depending on the number of people showing up there may be several tours going to different areas of the hill to explore. Directional signs will be put up in some of the lesser known areas to help riders find their way around the hill (bring a hammer and saw or small axe). Pack a lunch, all riders are invited to participate. For more info, call Don at 250-675-2420.
