Barracudas take on the best in the west
The Meadow Ridge Barracudas female midget 1 hockey team travelled to San Jose, California last weekend to take on the some of the best female hockey teams from across the Western States and Canada.
After finishing first in their round robin pool, the Barracudas made it all the way to semi-finals, where they were knocked out by the eventual division champions.
Throughout the tourney, the Barracudas got excellent goal tending from Sabrina Mathias and Samantha Shaw. Forwards Madeline Cockrill, Sarah Fox, Emily Jude, Payge Pena, Brooke Taylor, Jessica Thompson, and Kimberley White provided plenty of offence, while the team’s defense corps of Kirsten Langston, Megan Theisen, Melanie Tourangeau, and Sydney Langston, did a good job of shutting down opposing forwards.
