Langley opens two-game road trip with loss in Prince George

Spruce Kings top Rivermen

After taking a 3-2 lead 30 seconds into the third period, the Langley Rivermen surrendered three goals in a 5:02 span to drop a 5-3 decision to the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The Rivermen were in Prince George on Thursday night in the first of back-to-back games at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.

The loss dropped Langley’s record to 11-14-3-2, good for fourth place in the BCHL’s Mainland Division.

The junior A hockey teams finish the two-game set tonight (Friday).

Angus Crookshank, Satchel Clendenin and Andrew Dumaresque had the Rivermen goals while Parker Colley struck for a pair and Jarod Hovde, Ben Poisson and Brett Mennear had the Spruce Kings tallies.

Special teams were a huge story in the game as Prince George was one-for-four with the man advantage while Langley was zero-for-seven and surrendered a short-handed goal.

Rivermen goaltender Bo Didur returned to the line-up and made 30 saves in the defeat.
