The much anticipated 65th Annual Squam Bay Fish Derby will not be taking place in 2020.
Squam Bay Community Club president, Theresa Young, advises that it is with great regret that the organization must cancel their annual event this year due to COVID-19.
“This is a first for us,” said Young, “We realize the Derby is held the second Sunday in July, but due to the work that goes into this event, which is volunteered, the circumstances of the people and the sponsors that donate, we feel there wouldn’t be enough time to organize on such a short timeline. We are deeply sorry that we are not able to put our annual Derby on this year, but the health and safety of all who participate and work at this event comes first.”
