The Williams Lake Stampeders senior men’s AA hockey club held their annual general meeting late June.
Among other topics an executive was selected for the 2011/12 season.
The executive were elected as follows: president, Marko Zurak; vice president, Darryl Davies; treasurer, Duane Muir; secretary, Lynn Hanson.
Williams Lake Stampeders directors are: Brian Sanford, Brian Pryor, Sherri Jaeger, Simon Zurak and Norm Duff.
Player representative for the Stampeders will be Aaron Zurak.
With two new teams — the Quesnel Kangaroos and the Lac La Hache Tomahawks — added to the league for next season, the Central Interior Hockey League has been reformed into three divisions.
The West Division will house the Prince Rupert Rampage, the Terrace River Kings and the Kitimat Ice Demons.
In the Central Division will be the Houston Luckies, the Smithers Steelheads and the Hazelton Wolverines.
The East Division will see the Williams Lake Stampeders, the Omenica Ice, the Lac La Hache Tomahawks and the Quesnel Kangaroos do battle.
The regular season has also been extended to 18 games from last year’s 16-game schedule.
Minor hockey announces 2011/12 rep coaches
The Williams Lake Minor Hockey Association recently announced its tier 2 coaches for the 2011/12 season.
Coaching the midget tier 2 squad will be Sheldon Nohr, while Steve Carpenter will coach the bantam tier 2 team.
For peewee tier 2 Brad Thomas will be behind the bench, while Owen Thomas will coach the atom development club.
Blue Fin takes fifth at AAA provincials
Williams Lake Blue Fin swimmer Coral Choi finished fifth over the weekend at Team Aquatic Supplies Swim B.C. 2011 Long Course AAA Championships.
Choi, an 11-year-old, swam to the fifth-place finish in the 100-metre breaststroke, posting a time of 1:27.58.
In the 50-metre freestyle Choi placed 10th, and also finished 11th in the 200-metre breaststroke.
