Alberni Youth Soccer U10 and U11 Rep teams competed Jan. 7 in a Jamboree hosted by Oceanside Soccer at the Indoor Arbutus Meadows turf field in Nanoose Bay. It was another great development opportunity for the two teams.
Both teams turned some heads with strong performances in each of their games.
The kids showed great teamwork, played well and proved they match up well against other teams from mid-Island, coach Mike Nelson said.
The U10 team went undefeated in their three games, beating Ladysmith, Nanaimo and Oceanside 3-0, 2-1, 2-1 respectively. They controlled the play in each of their games and moved the ball around the field very well with some brilliant plays at times.
The U11 team started with their best performance, beating Oceanside 3-0 then Ladysmith 2-1 and tying Nanaimo 2-2. Their goaltending was strong and they created many great chances by pressuring the other teams to commit turnovers.
The coaching staff is extremely pleased with all the players commitment and work ethic. Their tenacity is unmatched and is what keeps them competitive.
