The Silver Stars and Kal Tire have really never liked each other much in the Okanagan Oldtimers 55+ Soccer League.

That was very evident again Thursday night as the Vernon rivals fought to a 1-1 tie at MacDonald Park.

Veteran Bruce Townsend, shortly after issuing a warning to the team captains to cool things down, called the game with about 12 minutes remaining due to rough play.

Dick Markin scored on a nice through ball by Uwe Wolthers to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at the break.

Chris Odermatt took a fabulous feed from Jenne Huberts, made a sweet turn and beat keeper Yogi Kongsdorf with the equalizer near the 64th minute.

Central fullback Roger Irving and Markin were the Burger King Men of the Match.

Both teams are 4-4-2.

In Division 2 women’s play, the Rockstars iced Courtesy Motors Sistas 7-2 with Tania irachowsky and Diane Neudorf getting the Courtesy goals.
