The Fort St. James Stars Midget Hockey team lost out to Terrace in the final game of the Nov. 24 and 25 tournament.

Out of six teams, the Stars managed to make it into the final game, but lost the end match-up of the tournament eight to six.

Against Fraser Lake on Saturday, the Stars played well, ending the game with a score of seven to one.

While their coach Dennis Saharchuk said the team played quite well, he said the Terrace team probably beat the local team “because they worked hard for 60 minutes” and the Terrace team did not take bad penalties.

This year’s Midget team is made up of both Fort St. James and Vanderhoof players, after neither community had enough players for their own team.

The practices have been taking place in Fort St. James, likely due to more available ice times according to Saharchuk.

The weekend midget tournament included teams from Fraser Lake, Burns Lake, Mackenzie and Houston in addition to Fort St. James and the winning team from Terrace.
