The Mission Peewee A1 Stars won big at the Abbotsford Peewee Rep Tournament last weekend.
Mission dropped just one game, en route to a tournament win in Tier 2 competition at the event.
The Stars opened the event with a 5-3 win over the Abbotsford Hawks on Friday afternoon (Dec. 7), and then defeated the Watkin Motors Mustangs 5-3 on Saturday morning.
Mission then fell 5-4 to the Victoria Racquet Club Kings on Saturday night to close out the round robin at 2-1, good for a second-place finish in Pool 1.
The Stars advanced to the playoff round on Sunday and edged the Langley Eagles 3-2 to advance to the final later that day. Mission then exacted some revenge on Victoria with a 7-4 win in the final at Abbotsford’s MSA Arena.
The next local tournament is the Atom C Jim Veitch Memorial, which runs at the Mission Leisure Centre from Feb. 15 to 18.
In other news, the Mission Minor Hockey Association donated big to the St. Joseph’s Food Bank earlier this month, gathering a total of 1,310 pounds of non-perishable food items. Food was gathered during team picture day on Dec. 1, with the food bank receiving the donation on Dec. 4.
