After a terrific opening day, Vernon’s Brady Stead slid into a tie for 23rd after two rounds at the B.C. Amateur Men’s Golf Championships Wednesday in Invermere.
Stead followed up his stellar 5-under 67 at the Springs Course at Radium Tuesday with a 7-over 77 at the co-host Copper Point Golf Club.
Victoria’s Kevin Carrigan tied the course record at Copper Point Wednesday to shoot himself into a four-stroke lead.
Carrigan, entering the week feeling under-the-weather and unable to play a practice round at the par 70, 6,807-yard Copper Point track, started the day at 2-under thanks to a 70 Tuesday at the Springs.
West Vancouver’s Kevin Spooner (67-69) and Maple Ridge’s Kevin Kwon (66-70) were tied for second after two rounds.
Vernon’s Conner Kozak, a member of the UBC Thunderbirds men’s team, fired an opening-round 3-over 75 at the Springs, and then went 2-over 72 at Copper Point to earn a share of 39th.
Coldstream’s Matt McEachran-Law (75-76) missed the cut by one stroke, while his brother Chris (70-82) was two strokes off the mark.
