Vancouver Stealth forward Joel McCready is one of three finalists for the National Lacrosse League’s teammate of the year award.
The nominees were announced on Monday (June 29) and McCready is up against Edmonton’s Jarrett Davis and Toronto’s Josh Sanderson.
The newly-created award honours players who demonstrate exemplary teamwork and leadership qualities.
The award recognizes the player who best exemplifies selfless play along with commitment and dedication to their team, as well as dedication to community activities and charitable causes.
Each of the nine teams in the league forwarded one nominee and players from around the league then voted to determine the final three.
McCready — in his first season with the Stealth — had a career high with 30 goals and 51 points. The 27-year-old was tied for 22nd in the NLL in goals but his .240 shooting percentage was sixth-best in the league among players who had at least 10 goals.
The winner will be announced at the NLL awards ceremony in Toronto on Sept. 29 and McCready is one of two Stealth nominees as Curtis Hodgson is up for the NLL’s most sportsmanlike award.
