The Salmon Arm Golds Varsity football team played their first official game this past Friday against Clarence Fulton Secondary from Vernon.

A good crowd was present to witness the contest played under the lights at the SASCU Sports Fields at Little Mountain in intermittent rain and cool fall temperatures.

It was a hard-fought game and the score was close at the half.

The second half didn’t go the way the boys would have liked, however, but coach Brad Schmidt was pleased with the effort.

Some of the highlights from the game were:

• Cody Jordan completed a 90-yard kickoff return;

• Jase Roberts had 12 carries for 60 yards; and • Dakota Dinwoodie had a 50-yard catch and run.

The next home game is Friday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. at Little Mountain fields.
