Heading into last weekend, Storm Head Coach Lee Stone said that Friday’s game against the Nanaimo Buccaneers was the most important to date. The Bucs have been surging and were within striking distance of catching the Storm in the North Division standings.
The game at the Brindy lived up to the pregame billing entertaining the 900 in attendance with a thrilling third period. With the game tied at two, Storm rookie Brett Kinley stepped out of the penalty box, picked up the puck in the neutral zone and, on a breakaway, roofed it under the crossbar for the game winning goal. The other Storm scorer in the 3-2 win was Mitchell Williams with two.
The weekend went well for the Storm when they added a 6-1 victory over the Oceanside Generals away on Saturday.
On Friday, they face the Westshore Wolves at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
