Chilliwack’s Olivia Strickland won two medals at the Jean Peters Provincial Synchronized Swimming Championships, held May 25-26 in Victoria.
Competing for the BC Aquasonics, Strickland won bronze in the level-three 12-and-over figures competition with a score of 58.835.
Strickland teamed with Shaleigh Lachance (Coquitlam), Madeleine Leblanc (Coquitlam), Grace MacDonald (Delta), Abby Rothwell (Delta) and Maleka Rostami (Abbotsford) to win gold in the level-two 12-and-under team finals.
Their final score was 56.208.
Strickland is part of the BC Aquasonics provincial stream, a grassroots development program. One of Canada’s oldest and largest (110 athletes) synchronized swimming clubs, BC Aquasonics has produced several Team Canada and Olympic athletes, and two Olympic coaches.
