Senior Men’s Bonspiel
The Summerland senior men’s bonspiel was held Nov. 19 to 21 with 20 teams. Teams included one from Oliver, four from Penticton, five from Kelowna and 10 from Summerland.
The Thursday morning ladies league cooked three lunches for the players. Andrew Barnes was the ice manager Warren Parker, Jim Hunt and Stan Green were the coordinators. Volunteers also assisted.
The Blue division winners from Summerland consisted of skip Glen Brennan, third Don Lawrence, second John Gregg and lead Jack Fraser with 149 points. Second place from Kelowna, Barry Lemay team with 135 points and third place from Summerland Art Lappalainen team with 110 points
The Red division winners from Kelowna, skip Ray Tait, third Bill Kearns, second Skip Kozuska, andlead Dan Martell with 122 points. Second place from Penticton, skip Larry Kowal with 121points, and third place Jim Hancharyk with 115 points.
The Green division winners from Summerland consisted of skip Stan Green, third Rick Pedder, second Norm Cole and lead Bill Chidlow with 131 points. Second place from Kelowna, skip Stan Wilson with 119 points, and third place Jim Hunt with 114 points.
Monday evening men: Ken Rae defeated Matthew Lowery, Art Lappalainen defeated Don Lawrence, Rob Robinson defeated Bruce Dacre, John Fitzgerald defeated Dale Abrey.
Tuesday evening ladies: Jodie Brennan defeated Betty Raymond, Judy Beck defeated Sue Johnston, Bev Skinner defeated Perry-Lynn Bula, Kathy Hogman defeated Debbie Jones, Jackie Clement defeated Joy Lappalainen.
Wednesday evening men: Stan Green tied Gary Wingerak, Glen Brennan defeated Louie Costa, Jared St. John defeated John Gregg, Dale Abrey defeated Ken Rae, John Fitzgerald defeated Gary Raymond.
Thursday morning ladies: Joy Lappalainen defeated RoseMarie Fenrich, Ev Gillespie defeated Marilyn Cahoon, Virginia Cundliffe defeated Barb Ezart.
Thursday evening open: Art Lappalainen defeated Gavin Griffiths, Jeff Goodis defeated Glen Brennan, Tony Blashko defeated Gary Raymond, John Egyed defeated Armand Houle, Russ Lemke defeated John McKay.
Friday afternoon sturling Game 1: Nancy Mullin and Terry LeSarge defeated Barb Ezart and Loretta Rozsa, Mike Karpan and Carol Cole tied Marion Enns and Norm Cole, Hector Cartier and Flo Stelmack defeated John Gregg and Gail Olstaficiuk, Charlotte Burley and John Nicolson defeated Kat Lefebvre and Marlene Brown.
Friday afternoon sturling Game 2: Hector Cartier and Flo Stelmack defeated Nancy Mullin and Terry LeSarge, Marion Enns and Norm Cole defeated Charlotte Burley and John Nicolson, Helen Riemer and Marilyn Cahoon defeated Mike Karpan and Carol Cole, John Gregg and Gail Olstaficiuk defeated Barb Ezart and Loretta Rozsa, John Gregg and Gail Olstaficiuk defeated Nancy Mullin and Terry LeSarge.
