The STARSkate skaters of Summerland Skating Club performed their programs during their Stars on Ice showcase on Dec. 5.
The showcase was organized by head coach Louise Evans with help from Sharon Mitchell, Cynthia Nickel, John and Linda Fortunato, Lane Busby and other members of the club, volunteers, and Summerland Arena employees.
Stars on Ice was created to have all the skaters perform their routines that they compete in competitions all over the province right at their home arena for friends, family, and anyone who has a general interest for skating.
The show was also used as a means for the club to fundraise money and sell items such as dresses, skirts, skates, stuffies, and even baked goods to anyone who was interested.
The programs are meant to push skaters with jumps, spins, and sequences that are difficult for them to perform, fast-paced, pressured, and long programs with a short time allocated to them to practice beforehand.
Skaters who participated were Amara Mackinley, Yuzuki Onishi, Brooke Mide, Sara Goodall, Emily Goodall, Noa Kan, Lacey Doerksen, Cyan Nickel, Kaylee Fortunato, Keelyn Mitchell, Patricia Fortunato andSabrina Fortunato.
