With just eight regular season games remaining this year, the Summerland Steam have been guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.
The Junior B team is in second place in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference: Okanagan Division of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
The team’s record is 23 wins, 12 losses, one tie and three overtime losses, putting Summerland behind the Osoyoos Chiefs in the division.
Osoyoos, Summerland and the Kelowna Chiefs will all be in the division playoffs. The Princeton Posse and the North Okanagan Knights are also vying for a playoff spot.
The Steam has made it to the division semifinals every year since the 2012-2013 season.
Since the 2014-2015 season, the team has won the division semifinals and advanced to the division finals.
Two years ago, Summerland advanced to the conference finals, losing to the 100 Mile House Wranglers.
The next home game for the Steam is on Friday, Feb. 9 at 7:30, against the Osoyoos Coyotes.
Other home games are Monday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. against the Princeton Posse and Friday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. against the Kelowna Chiefs.
