“Anyone can have a Golden Bear – we’ve got a Golden Osprey!”

That’s the word from the Sunnydale Ladies Golf Club as they prepare for their 50th annual Royal LePage Tillicum Golf Tournament. The event goes Aug. 18-19 with a 9 a.m. start both mornings.

There will be a golden putting contest, a tombstone race and a golden meet and greet on Friday evening (Aug. 17). “Plan to come and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine,” said tourney chairperson Frankie McCaffrey.

Registration and the tutting contest starts at 3 p.m. The tombstone starts at 4:30 sharp with sign-up by 4 p.m. “You can pick your own partner or one will be chosen for you. Tombstones will be supplied unless you have a special one of your own,” McCaffrey said.

Registration on the 18th will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

in the morning. The low gross sponsor is Royal LePage and the low net sponsor is the Eagle radio station. “Their loyal support has been really appreciated for several years,” McCaffrey said.

The tournament is in three flights this year and the team prize is back, McCaffrey said. “It’s an honour to have the ladies chairman from the 1962 tournament attending the dinner on the first day. One has to wonder what the rest of us were doing 50 years ago?” McCaffrey said.

Entry fee is $95. Enter by June 30 and have a chance to win that money back. Entry fee includes the meet and greet with a complimentary glass of wine, morning munchies and coffee (both mornings) dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. There will be lots of free door prizes and a special gift at each place setting.

“Don’t miss out on this one!” McCaffrey said.
