Surveyors silence Riot

Monashee Surveying shut down Riot FC 2-0 in North Okanagan Soccer League play Wednesday night at Marshall Field #5.

James Inglis picked up the clean sheet as Monashee Surveying shut down Riot FC 2-0 in North Okanagan Soccer League play Wednesday night at Marshall Field #5.

The 3-5-1 Surveyors, fielding a full squad of 18, went ahead on a corner kick. Glenn Allen, making his season debut, crossed it in for Australian Dave Henry to head in from the near post.

Later in the first half, a miscue by Inglis led to a breakaway for the 2-6-2 Riot, but Matt McKeown slid in behind the Monashee keeper to steal the goal away.

Allen made it 2-0 before the break when he poked one into the far corner after Brett Korberg had headed on a free kick.

With the Riot pressing, Monashee worked a simple passing game in the second half to ride out the win.

Okanagan Spirits Man of the Match was defender John Duc, who kept Monashee calm on the back line.

North Enderby Timber and the host Revelstoke Stallions settled nothing in a 1-1 draw.

Both teams generated multiple chances, with NET keeper Danny Stein making a couple huge saves.

The 4-2-3 Stallions solved Stein in the 25th minute after a timber turnover led to a partial breakaway. The initial shot bounced off the left post, but the Revelstoke striker followed up by tapping in his own rebound.

Just before half, Stein and sweeper Chris Ovens combined to clear a ball off the line during a scramble.

NET, now 6-3-1, equalized 20 minutes into the second half after Sean Lister and Dexter James worked the ball through the midfield and fed it to speedy Brent Poulsen, who baited the Revelstoke keeper and finished with a calm chip from just inside the 18.

The timber nearly jumped ahead after a scramble in the Stallions’ end, but somehow the ball stayed out.

The Hi-Pro Sportswear Camels shelled Peters Tirecraft/Concept Physio 5-1 at Marshall #4.

Enzo Paal (2), Mwiza Singogo, Trevor Rachwalski, and Albert Goldnik supplied the 6-3-2 Camel attack. Fabrice Fanfani returned from Denmark training grounds and bossed the midfield.

Dean Buse handled the offence for the 1-7-2 Concept crew. Nick Lucas was a terror up front.

The tilt between Turn-Key FC (5-3) and host Eagle Homes Nation of Domination (5-1-2) was rained out.
