Sutton rink wins A event at men’s bonspiel

Dennis Sutton skipped his Victoria rink past Dave Shortill's Duncan foursome in the final of the Duncan Iron Works A event at the Duncan Curling Club's men's bonspiel last weekend.

Dennis Sutton skipped his Victoria rink past Dave Shortill’s Duncan foursome in the final of the Duncan Iron Works A event at the Duncan Curling Club’s men’s bonspiel last weekend.

A total of 22 teams took part in the annual competition at the Glen Harper Curling Centre.

Rounding out the A event were bonspiel organizer Brent Dellebuur in third place, and Seattle’s John Shoesmith in fourth.

The B event, sponsored by Creative Woodcraft, was also won by a Victoria rink as Neil Dangerfield guided his team to first place ahead of Duncan’s Red Arrow team skipped by Bart Sawyer. Gerald Poelman of Duncan finished third, and Kerry Park’s Miles Craig was fourth.

Doug Muir of Esquimalt won the Leon Signs C event ahead of Kerry Park’s Wes Craig, with Victoria’s Calvin Heels in third and Duncan’s Larry Mattin in fourth.

Ingram Pharmacy sponsored the D event, where all of the top four teams hailed from the Duncan Curling Club. Rodney Challborn took first, followed by Chet Masse in second, Murray Blom in third, and Kevin Lamont in fourth.
