Seven teams from Glen Meadows are enjoying small victories after hosting the club’s major bonspiel of the year.
The Glen Meadows Masters Curling Open Bonspiel offered some first-class curling that culminated in finals Friday. Seven Glen Meadows teams finished in the prize money among the 32 teams that included rinks from Juan de Fuca, Esquimalt, Kerry Park and Victoria.
The Dick McCarthy team from Kerry Park Curling Club finished first in the A event defeating second-place James Turner rink.
The Al Lyon team finished third while Glen Meadows’ Lyle Garraway rink rounded out fourth.
A Kerry Park rink also took first in the B event. The Gary Franklin team defeated the Bob Leach foursome.
The Lawrence Woytowich team from Glen Meadows finished third over the Gord Zorn team from Glen Meadows.
The Wayne Silver team from Esquimalt Curling Club took first in the C event over the Gordon Schnell foursome from Glen Meadows while the Jack Campbell team from Glen Meadows finished third, defeating the Gord Boland rink.
In the D event the local Al Mellett team trumped the Lyle Sheepwash rink while the Paul Kondal team defeated the fourth-place Earl Hagan rink from Glen Meadows.
