This past weekend the competitive teams from the Campbell River Synchro Club attended a training meet in Victoria.
This meet focuses only on figures, an individual component of synchronized swimming.
Depending on the age and ability of the swimmer, each swimmer performs four different figures in front of a panel of judges without music.
The girls’ performance was top notch under head coach Leona Hamm, placing in the top six for both the senior and junior teams.
Hamm praised the girls for their mental toughness and ability to stay focused during the figures performances.
“It’s this kind of amazing mindset and mental capabilities the girls all have that make them a joy to coach,” Hamm said.
The senior team placed first (Rachel Enns), second (Raya Jordan), third (Olivia Wharton) and sixth (Devon Rodgers) in their category.
It’s the first season for the junior team in the competitive stream placing second (Sidney Demuth), third (Linnea Crawshaw) and sixth (Olivia Holling) in their category.
In the spring the club will be attending the Regional meet in Victoria where they will have an opportunity to perform their team routines, trios, duets and solos before heading to the provincials in Kamloops this coming June.
