Tables smashed at pro wrestling show

B.J. Laredo and Scott Steel defeated Cremator Von Slasher and Lak Siddartha in a tables match in the main event of the VIPW show Saturday.

Vancouver Island Pro Wrestling marked its three-year anniversary with a bang – and also a crash, and the cracking sound of tables breaking.

The Nanaimo tag team of B.J. Laredo and Scott Steel defeated Cremator Von Slasher and Lak Siddartha in a tables match in the main event of the VIPW show Saturday at the Departure Bay Activity Centre.

“Three years. There was a lot of people that said we couldn’t make it six months and here we are,” said Laredo, addressing the crowd after the match. “And it’s not because of us – it’s because of each and every you coming out to our shows and supporting the brand. VIPW’s here; we’re not going anywhere.”

The main event ended when Laredo helped launch Steel for a dropkick that knocked both Cremator and Siddartha through a table set up outside the ring.

Earlier, Laredo and Steel had put Siddartha through a table with a powerbomb/stomp combo off the turnbuckle and through a table. The challengers had responded when Cremator used a chairshot to knock Laredo off the ring apron and through a table. For good measure, Steel also stomped an interfering Riea Von Slasher through a table.

There were five other matches. In the semi-main event, Eddie Osbourne defended his VIPW title against Bishop in a bullrope match.

In the first match of the night, William Saint cheated to beat Nolan James, putting his feet on the ropes for leverage while making the pin.

Judas Icarus versus Xavier Galaxy ended in a no contest when Riea interfered, and she went on to beat Icarus in a singles match.

Also, Nathan Legacy beat Shane O’Ryan.

VIPW’s next show in Nanaimo is Nov. 26.
