The Nanaimo Pirates tadpole team won a tournament this past weekend at Sid Clark Gyro Park

A tadpole baseball tournament in Nanaimo was a smash hit.

The Nanaimo Pirates tadpole team won their Summer Smash tourney this past weekend at Sid Clark Gyro Park.

The Pirates defeated the Duncan Riverhawks 14-5 in Sunday’s final. Nanaimo beat the White Rock Tritons 4-0 in the semis and were 2-0-1 in pool play, outscoring the Campbell River Tyees 9-6, tying White Rock 6-6 and then shutting out Gordon Head 7-0.
