Nelson’s Fred Thomson finished just outside the medals at the Canadian Senior Men’s Curling Championship.
Thomson, who played lead along with skip Bob Ursel, second Don Freschi and third David Stephenson, had to settle for fourth place after the BC rink fell 7-5 to Nova Scotia’s Alan O’Leary in the bronze-medal match on Saturday.
BC led 4-3 after five ends, but O’Leary scored twice in the sixth and seventh ends, respectively, to take the lead for good in Digby, N.S.
Ontario’s Bryan Cochrane defeated defending champion Randy Neufeld 6-3 in the gold-medal final.
