A Team Canada tap troupe placed third in the world at a recent international dance championship.

Nearly two-dozen dancers from local studios were on the junior and senior teams competing at the event, held in Riesa, Germany earlier this month.

The junior formation team performed Swing Set, earning them third place honours in their category at the International Dance Organization (IDO) World Tap Dance Championships.

The junior small group placed sixth and the junior duo team of Jordyn Bietel and Kyla Fowler placed 16th at the event.

In adult competition, Team Canada’s adult formation team (“The Rockettes”) placed 7th, while the adult small group placed 12th.

The IDO is a world federation that includes more than 90 nations, representing 250,000 dancers on six continents.

Lisa Dew was choreographer for both the senior and junior team Canada teams.
