Almost 120 teams competed in a British Columbia Team Roping Association (BCTRA) Winter Saddle Series, organized by the Quesnel Team Roping Club on Nov. 18, with ropers travelling in from Cache Creek, Vanderhoof and Vancouver Island.
The series will run the third Saturday of each month from November to March, with the finals taking place March 31. Prizes include saddles, buckles, rifles, knives and saddle pads.
In last weekend’s competition indoors at Alex Fraser Park in Quesnel, ropers competed in the #11 or #8 competition.
In the #11, Ryan MacNaughton and Dustin Shields took first place with the fastest time, with MacNaughton and Steven Lloyd taking second.
Third place went to Cash Isnardy and Carey Isnardy; fourth to MacNaughton and John Hancock; and fifth to Gary Nicholson and Dustin Shields.
In the #8 series, Denton Spiers and Clint Cripps took first place honours, with Dawson Spencer and Glen Brown coming in second.
