Five runs in the sixth inning helped break open game one of a doubleheader and the Langley Junior Blaze followed that up with a shutout victory to push their winning streak to 10 games.
The Blaze doubled up the Victoria Mariners 6-3 before winning 7-0 on Saturday afternoon at Victoria’s Henderson Park in B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League play. The Blaze lead the league at 20-5.
Against the Mariners, Brayden Cameron had a two-run single as the Blaze busted open a 1-1 game.
Mack Berry also had a pair of RBIs while Daniel Martin and Justin Lanigan had an RBI apiece.
Terrell Rogers allowed one run over five innings while striking out seven for the win and Trevor Alcos nailed down the save.
In the rematch, Sasha Kamenjasevi went five innings of four-hit ball while Lanigan allowed just two base runners over the final two innings.
Martin paced the offence with three RBIs while Brendan Winning, Michel Saulter and Jacob McDermott had an RBI apiece.
Langley is back in action on June 22 when they host the White Rock Tritons. Game time is 7 p.m.
