‘Their enthusiasm is absolutely contagious’

North Langley Challenger baseball having another great season

It was a ‘win-win’ game with smiles all around on a recent Saturday morning as the North Langley Mets buddied up with the North Langley Challenger baseball team in a game of fun-filled ball at Walnut Grove Park.

The North Langley Challengers baseball team is made up of enthusiastic children and youth ages 4-18 with special needs who just want to have fun and play ball.

Players from all over the community come together every Saturday morning in Walnut Grove to play and are supported by volunteers who guide and encourage them on the field.

On June 1, the North Langley Mets, made up of 13 year old boys, had the honour of lending their support to these amazing kids and they had a great time doing it.

As one parent of a Mets player said, “it really is a great experience for the boys to help out and you can really see how much fun everyone is having….if they’re lucky they’ll be able to help again next year.”

In the background, squeals of delight could be heard from one of the Challenger players as she zoomed her wheelchair around the bases.

As one bystander said, ‘their enthusiasm is absolutely contagious.”
