The Omineca Ski club trails are still in great shape and freshly groomed. Come out for a ski.

There is still time to enjoy skiing

The spring weather is providing conditions for everyone.

Bob Hazelton is a stellar example of the active for life model.

At age 75 years Bob took up  snow boarding in order to spend time with his grand children but soon realized why kids love to snow board so much, “When you jump off the icy edge of a large clump of snow it is really exciting… it really turns you on,” said Hazelton

In 1960 Bob took up Cross Country Skiing by taking lesson’s from Jean Paulson on the Magee place in the fields above what is now known as the Rod Reid Trail.

Soon after, Hazelton’s young children acquired a great love for alpine skiing so he took up alpine skiing and spent most of his spare time in the winter enjoying the mountain slopes with his family.

These days, at age 83, he can be found most mornings out cross country skiing and vibrates when he exclaims, “There is just something about it that make me feel so good… and the mind… It just does something great for the mind to.”

If you see Bob on the trails or on the slopes make sure you say hi, Bob’s zest and zeal for life is surely contagious.

The spring weather is providing conditions for everyone. In the early morning up until about 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. it’s eye tearing fast fun skiing, pleasant walking, running or snow shoeing, or pavement smooth pedal biking.

After 11 a.m. the snow softens up nicely to provide a very pleasant ski or snow shoe, however, walking, running or biking may rut up the trails so the club asks that you use discretion in the warmer parts of the day for activities other than skiing, snow shoeing or fat biking.
