The Penticton Vees now have three alumni at the Ice Hockey World Championship underway in Slovakia.
Tyson Jost joined Team Canada after his Colorado Avalanche squad was eliminated from the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs.
He joins former Vees teammates Troy Stecher and Dante Fabbro, who were already with Team Canada at the event.
Canada has a two-win, one loss record and are tied for second in the Group A standings following a 6-5 win over the host team Monday.
Jost had a pair of assists in Canada’s second game of the tournament, an 8-0 shutout of Great Britain.
Fabbro had a goal in that game and Stecher one assist. Stecher also scored one of Canada’s goals in the win over Slovakia. Canada lost its opening game to division-leading Finland. The team plays again Thursday against France.

Jost, from St. Albert, Alta., just finished his second season in the National Hockey League, appearing in 70 games, scoring 11 goals and and adding 15 assists for a 26-point year.
The Avalanche advanced to the second round of the playoffs against the San Jose Sharks, and Jost was at his best near the end of that series.
He scored in games five, six and seven to try and lift the Avalanche to the third round. San Jose won game seven 3-2 last week.
With the Vees, Jost played two seasons from 2014 to 2016, scoring 65 goals and 84 assists in 97 games. As team captain in 2015-16, Jost finished third in league scoring with 104 points.
He was named the BCHL’s MVP, CJHL’s Player of the Year, won gold at the World Junior ‘A’ Challenge, gold at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup and captained Team Canada at the World Under-18 Championship. He holds the Canadian record for most points at one Under-18 tournament with 15.

He was drafted 10th overall by the Avalanche that summer before moving on to the University of North Dakota.
In his one season with the Fighting Hawks, Jost scored 16 goals and 19 assists in 33 games. He also represented Canada again, this time at the World Junior Championship, claiming a silver medal.

This will be the second time Jost has played at the World Hockey Championship after a strong showing last year with four goals and two assists in nine games.
This will be the eighth time he has represented Canada at the international level.
