The 18th annual Ladies softball tournament in Kitimat was Aug 6th & 7th this year.
The BOBs from Kitimat came out on top over Strike Force from Terrace with a 9-7 win.
This was the third time in four years that these two teams met in the final. This year was finally the BOB’s year. Having lost to Strike Force earlier in the day the BOBs knew it was going to be a tough game.
Having to play back to back to back to make it to the finals made for a long day for the ladies. It was a well-played game considering it was their 5th game in a row, starting out with the BOBs beating the other Kitimat team, D.S.B., first thing in the morning.
Next the BOBs played the Dirt Divas from Terrace, which was a nail biter in itself, going 9 innings rather than the usual 7 in order to conjure a win.
The next game was against Strike Force with the BOBs losing 10-0. Losing that one meant they had to play again right away against Grassy Bay from Prince Rupert, who were playing that weekend in honour of a fellow team mate, Billie Jean Hughes.
It was another close one with the BOBs coming out on top, then playing Strike Force in the final game.
Overall, BOBs was 1st, Strike Force 2nd, Grassy Bay 3rd, Dirt Divas 4th and D.S.B. 5th.
