Three local teams end year with gold medals

It was a great weekend for Oceanside Minor Hockey, as the Oceanside Knights, Oceanside atom and peewee girls all earned gold medals.

It was a great weekend all around for Oceanside Minor Hockey, as the Oceanside Knights, Oceanside atom and peewee girls all earned gold medals.

 

The Oceanside Knights

The Knights (atom) were able to get past the Campbell River Inferno (3-2), the Nanaimo Wolverines (11-2) and the Nanaimo Flyers (7-3) in the first day of the Nanaimo Atomic ICE Tournament. On day two, the Knights tied Kerry Park (4-4) but would advance to the finals on points. After an unbeaten weekend the Knights beat Langley 10-6 for gold.

In Saanich, the Oceanside Icebreakers female hockey teams were in action at both the atom and peewee level. Both teams reached the finals unbeaten in their final tournaments of the year and brought home gold.

The Atom Icebreakers beat Sooke 5-0, while the Peewee Icebreakers beat Victoria in a tight, 3-2 final.
